H. R. Giger is a Swedish surrealist painter who is famous for his artistic influence on the film "Alien". His art communicates a message of over population, humans evolution into biomechanics, uncanny nightmares, supernatural forces, and his self disgust of our species. Probably the darkest of my inspirations, Giger catches my eye and imagination in a very outstanding (and grimacing) way.
Skinner is a self taught artist and one of my favorite creators of design, though his art is very stylized and chaotically themed I find a lot of appeal to his unique dark flavors and poster-like approach.

Ralph Bakshi is strange. He has made several adult orientated animations which are controversial at the least. And I cant say I am in much favor of his general cartooning- but the backgrounds, animations and art made in his adaption of Lord of the Rings was an fantastic impression on me. Especially the orc designs, which have creeped me out from childhood and even now. Also Bakshi, as I see it, is one of the few directors of film that still can not only tell a story- but make an actual art out of it. Hats off to Ralph.
Edward Munch's "The Scream" is a very inspiring piece of art, for multiple reasons. First is the basic color scheme- mixture of blue and orange to create a bold look, while creating a solemn feel from the dull browns. This is superb also in that it is crude, basic look- giving it a raw feeling. Nothing too defined or real, giving it a surreal and chaotic emotion. Adding to that is the actual screamer, who is uncanny and mysterious- leaving his terror to our interpretation. I think this piece is an excellent example in scheme and philosophical impression. Truly inspired!!
